Phi Phi has been inhabited by Sea Gypsies for about 100 years. The Sea Gypsies are still on Phi Phi today.  11 Years ago Phi Phi only had 1 restaurant. This has changed dramatically over the years and now the Island has become one of the top places in South East Asia to visit. Phi Phi Ley is famous as the location where the Hollywood movie The Beach was filmed.  Tourists can walk and swim on this actual beach and experience its beauty.

Over the years, Krabi and the province's most famous island, Phi Phi, have grown into one of Thailnd's busiest tourist areas. Phi Phi Island is about 45km(28miles) east of Phuket, and Krabi is on the mainland about 30km(20miles) north-northeast of Phi Phi Island. You can reach Phi Phi Island by ferry from Phuket, Krabi or Lanta Island.
Phi Phi's amazing limestone cliffs rise dramatically into the sky. The drama continues underwater, where divers can explore the fascinating topography.

Tongsai is a flat bay surrounded by limestone cliffs at either end.  Many restaurants, guesthouses and tourist information offices are situated in this area. ( Map of Phi Phi Isaland)

Guesthouses and hotels vary in price and amenities.  Prices start from as little as 100 bath per night for a dorm room with a shared bathroom up to luxury accommodation with swimming pool. The choice is yours!

Phi Phi boosts a large variety of fantastic international and local cuisine including Japanese, Scandinavian and French to name a few.  Seafood is in abundance here with Marlin, Lobster and Swordfish a local specialty. If it is delicious, cheap local food you are after Phi Phi has a Muslim market selling the tastiest food around although pork is not on the menu.  Fresh fruit is also in abundance and very cheap in the market place.

There are many banks, money exchange tellers and ATM machines dotted around the Island which are open 7 days a week for your convenience.

The local hospital can take care of most of your health related problems but for more serious conditions the Phuket International hospitals only a 25 minute boat ride away and has many western trained doctors of European standard.

International phone boxes are easy to find on Phi Phi and simple to use.  International phone cards can be purchased in  most shops around the island and rates are cheap.  Internet offices are plentiful and cheap.

Phi Phi Post Office has recently reopened on the island. Stamps and postcards can be purchased here. The Post Office is open Monday to Friday.

Tourist police are situated on the Island and are there to ensure your stay is a safe and pleasant one.
